Branisovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The tripartite Hradiště of Branišovice covers 2.8 hectares. Its history dates back a long way: the early medieval Slavic hillfort was an important support and lookout point in the 8th century or, at the latest, the 9th century.

History

The village of Branišovice was probably founded in the 13th century. The first written mention of the village dates from 1398. A chapel in Branišovice is also one of the area's interesting historic buildings; it is not listed as a protected monument.

Landscape

Branišovice is part of the Římovsko protected historic cultural landscape. The Hradiště of Branišovice lies on the right bank of the Malše on a spur 50 to 55 metres high, directly opposite the famous pilgrimage site of Římov.

Steep slopes border the Hradiště of Branišovice towards the Malše; the area is bounded by these steep slopes towards the Malše and by the narrow canyon of the Branišovický potok.

Terrain features

The Hradiště of Branišovice is approximately 350 to 370 metres long and 30 to 70 metres wide. A preserved section of the middle rampart reaches a height of up to 2.5 metres. In front of the eastern rampart, part of the ditch is still recognisable as a slight depression in the terrain.

A signpost on the Křížová cesta educational trail in Římov points to a turn-off to the Hradiště of Branišovice.
