Slavče combines a hilly, wooded landscape with remarkable natural and cultural features. The municipality contains the Ďáblík nature monument in the Keblany cadastral area, which protects mesotrophic aquatic and wetland habitats with populations of endangered plant and animal species.

Nature

Slavče lies at the northern foot of the Slepičí hory. The surrounding area consists of a hilly, wooded landscape with almost untouched nature. Mount Kohout is the dominant landscape feature of Slavče and its districts, reaching an elevation of 869 metres.

The area around Slavče offers opportunities for hiking. There are several viewpoints around the village with views of the surrounding landscape. In summer, the forests around Slavče are frequented by mushroom and blueberry pickers. Visitors can also walk through avenues of fruit trees with cherry, plum and pear trees in the surrounding area.

Culture

The “Krajinou humanity” educational trail passes seven information boards. They introduce seven prominent humanists from around the world.

History

Slavče was established sometime during the 12th century; the oldest written record dates from 1186. The village is home to the Church of Saints Philip and James, a Neo-Gothic building constructed from 1903 to 1906. There is also a Baroque chapel from the 18th century.

The protected Boží muka wayside shrines are located in the Lniště district. They are protected as a cultural monument.

Tradition

The tradition of the Masopustní koleda is still maintained in Slavče. From 1999 to 2004, an ethnographic study of the traditionally transmitted Masopustní koleda in Doudlebsko focused on the area of the three closely neighbouring municipalities of Slavče, Dobrkovská Lhotka and Soběnov.
