Deutsch Beneschau: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Deutsch Beneschau (Benešov nad Černou) showcases its history at the Church of St. James the Elder: it dates back to 1332 and is an originally Gothic, single-nave, plastered religious building with a tower on the west façade.

Culture and History

The Renaissance town hall of Benešov nad Černou, built in 1594, stands on the square. The Historical Exhibition of Benešov nad Černou is freely accessible in the town hall building. The square is also home to the statue of St. John of Nepomuk on the plague column, also known as the Marian column, dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk. It was erected in 1726; the column is decorated with statues of St. Florian, St. Sebastian, and St. Roch.

The Adalbert Stifter memorial was officially opened to the public in 1936 on the southeastern outskirts of Benešov nad Černou.

The school’s virtual nature and history trail through Benešov nad Černou passes the Adalbert Stifter memorial on the left bank of the Černá. It then follows the river back to the square and the school. The “Brána do Novohradských hor” educational trail introduces visitors to the history and nature of Benešov nad Černou and its immediate surroundings.

Another route is the “Pamětí Slepičích hor” educational trail. It is designed as a circular route, covers 54 km in its longest version, and connects 17 stations with information boards.

Mount Zaječí is located in the immediate vicinity of Benešov nad Černou. The surrounding area also includes the mountains Vysoká, Nebelstein, and Trosky. In the wider regional area are Rosenhof Castle and Jägerkreuz, a wayside shrine.
