Theresiendorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Theresiendorf combines impressive nature with a long-established local history. The Novohradské Mountains Nature Park is also located within the administrative area of the municipality of Pohorská Ves and protects an extensive mountain and foothill landscape with near-natural forests and meadows, peat bogs, ponds and spring areas, as well as preserved historical assets.

Nature and Landscape

One of the area’s special natural habitats is Žofínský prales. Together with the Hojná Voda primeval forest, it is one of the oldest nature reserves in Central Europe. Žofínský prales is home to trees up to 400 years old. At the same time, the area preserves a remnant of the original primeval-forest-like woodland, which has been left to develop naturally.

Church and History

The Church of St. Linhart in Pohorská Ves dates from 1787. It is a single-nave church with a wooden turret above the west façade. The building is being gradually restored and is consequently developing into a venue for liturgical and cultural activities. The history of Pohorská Ves dates back to the second half of the 18th century.

Information and Cycle Paths

At the adjacent tourist information centre, visitors can look inside the Church of St. Linhart and learn about the history of its restoration. The information centre in Pohorská Ves also provides information about the region and about events organised by the municipal administration and the Terezie Beautification Association.

Pohorská Ves is also a named location on the cycle-path network: the cycling tour “From Budějovice through the Novohradské Mountains” passes through Malonty and Pohorská Ves, reaching the highest point of the tour along the way. Cycle route 1193 runs from Pohorská Ves via Huťský rybník and Pohoří na Šumavě to Dolní Příbrání.
