Bavorov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Bavorov combines distinctive buildings, a protected natural area and other destinations in the surrounding region to create a varied townscape.

Culture

At the western edge of the original town centre stands the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is a prominent landmark of the town and one of the most important Gothic buildings in South Bohemia. Its construction was probably completed by 1384.

At the northwestern corner of the main square stands the single-storey early Baroque Panský dům, also known as Zámek. The Panský dům complex is an important cultural monument of Renaissance architecture. Jan Bavor III had Bavorov’s present-day square, streets and wooden fortifications laid out.

The wider surrounding region of Bavorov is also home to several sites designated as having cultural and historical significance: Chlumany is an ancient site, the Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast is a ruin, and Svatý Jan is a church.

Nature

The Bavorovská stráň protected area preserves a species-rich purple moor-grass meadow belonging to the Molinion alliance, with numerous specially protected, critically endangered and endangered plant species.

Mužský is a mountain in the vicinity of Bavorov. In the wider surrounding region of Bavorov, Volovický vrch, Libín and Rohanovský vrch are also mountains.

Cycling

The 56-kilometre second stage of the Zlatá stezka (Blanice) route runs from Prachatice via Bavorov, Vodňany and Protivín to Putim.
