It protects a significant population of more than 300 common juniper specimens and was first placed under protection on 21 January 1988. The natural monument is approximately 300 metres from the Černýšovice–Bechyňská Smoleč road; over the final approximately 300 metres to reach it, bicycles must be pushed.

Village character and history

The Zvonice s kaplí sv. Jana Nepomuckého stands at the northern edge of Černýšovice’s oval, sloping village square. It was built around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The addition of the chapel to the bell tower created additional seating.

According to local tradition, Černýšovice was founded in 1390. The annual pilgrimage in Černýšovice takes place on the second Sunday after the Feast of Saint John.
