Strašín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Strašín reveals its distinctive features in specific places: cultural monuments and ecclesiastical buildings, literary traces, paths through the Pošumaví region and striking natural formations give the town a multifaceted character.

Culture

In the village district of Maleč in Strašín, the Baroque Chapel of St. Anne stands on the village square between four lime trees. It is protected as a cultural monument. The stone fountain in Strašín was declared a cultural monument in 2004.

The former ossuary next to the church contains wall paintings dating back to 1750. The town also has a literary presence: Karel Klostermann’s novel Hostinný dům is set in Strašín.

Paths

The Věštínská Chapel is located one kilometre north of Strašín; the existing stone building dates from the first half of the 19th century. In 2025, the chapel was restored and opened to visitors by local patriots. It serves as a spiritual site and a destination for walks. The walk there is also suitable for bicycles and pushchairs.

The Czech section of the Lamberská stezka in the Pošumaví region is an almost 50-kilometre circular route that can be walked in stages. The Lamberská stezka passes through Strašín; near the town centre stands the pilgrimage Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.

Nature

The Strašínská jeskyně, also known as Nezdická jeskyně, is a fissure cave formed in crystalline limestone and one of the largest caves in the Pošumaví region. The cave chambers are not yet open to the public; the cave is closed until further notice.

The Mrazové srázy u Lazen nature monument lies south of Strašín. It protects a pronounced frost slope with a block field, a geomorphological feature characteristic of the development of the Bohemian Forest.
