Polánka is situated on a hill in Kakov Forest. Its location combines a clearly recognizable settlement structure with remarkable natural and cultural areas.
Geographical location
Polánka is divided into an upper and a lower part, which are 300 metres apart. A small stream flows below Polánka and subsequently becomes part of the Myslivský potok, which forms the source of the Úslava River.
Nature
The Polánecký mokřad nature reserve is located in the area of Polánka. It contains marshy and wet meadows with several specially protected and rare plant species. The V Houlištích natural monument protects a species-rich beech forest and an alder forest where wild garlic grows. A large part of the cadastral area of Polánka also belongs to the Plánický hřeben-Kákov Nature Park.
Routes and educational trail
Cycle route 2162 leads from Myslív through Polánka along a third-class road to Lovčice. The 12-kilometre-long Stehlíkova naučná stezka educational trail is suitable for hikers and cyclists. It starts and ends in the centre of Myslív and leads via Polánka in the direction of Pohoří. The educational trail is dedicated to the poet Ladislav Stehlík.
Culture and history
The first written mention of Polánka dates from 1381 and is found in the first book of the court records. The Polánecký válcový mlýn č. p. 19 roller mill is a local technical monument. The land-use plan for Polánka preserves the historic layout of the settlement, the structure of the village squares and the adjoining original buildings.
