Nalžov Castle is a four-winged building with an enclosed courtyard. It was originally a late Renaissance structure, probably built in the 1620s; in the 1740s, it was remodelled in the late Baroque style and, after 1840, transformed into its present late Empire form.
Churches and Landscape
The Church of St Catherine stands approximately in the centre of Nalžovské Hory, on the old road, on elevated ground above a stream. It can be accessed from the old road and from the area in front of the rectory.
The Baroque Church of St Catherine was built in 1721–1723 and stands in Nalžovy, a district of Nalžovské Hory. Prašivice Forest Park is located on Mount Prašivice, northeast of and above Nalžovské Hory.
Trails and Experiences
A marked hiking trail leads directly from Nalžov Castle to Prašivice Forest Park. The sights in the forest park can be visited on an easy walk along a marked hiking trail. Along the way, there is a dragon painted on a partially worked natural boulder, a turtle carved from another boulder, and another dragon.
The blue-marked TT 1421 hiking trail passes through Prašivice and Nalžovské Hory. The CT 2080 cycle route leads from Klatovy via Nalžovské Hory to Čejkovy.
Evening Culture
Nalžovské Hory Open-Air Cinema screens films outdoors, amid evening scenery and at sunset. For more than ten years, it hosted shared summer evenings under the starry sky.
