Zborovy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Zborovy stands the protected complex of the Church of Saint John the Baptist. It comprises the church, a mortuary, a bell tower and the associated grounds. The church was originally built as a Romanesque rotunda around the middle of the 13th century. In the northern wall of its presbytery, above the roof of the sacristy, an original Romanesque window with a semicircular arch has been preserved.

Culture

Other local monuments in Zborovy include a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The wayside shrine or column shrine “Zborovy boží muka na návsi” is a carefully crafted column shrine made of local coarse-grained granite and assembled from four parts.

History

About 1 km northeast of Zborovy, on the wooded Hrádek hill, are the preserved stone ramparts of a former Slavic hillfort dating from around the 10th century. A medieval castle later stood on the site of the Hrádek Slavic hillfort.

South of Štipoklasy, in the direction of Zborovy, the remains of a listed Slavic hillfort from the late hillfort period can be found on the wooded summit of Hrádek, with preserved ramparts and a ditch. The excursion “Zborovy and Hrádek Hillfort” is approximately 4 km long and has an elevation gain of less than 50 m.

Landscape

Zborovy lies in a broad valley with a stream on the road from Pačejov to Plánice. The area around Zborovy consists mainly of pastures, with occasional copses or groups of shrubs. Zborovy is also located near Route 22, which connects Klatovy, Horažďovice and Strakonice.
