Susice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

History, views and religious tradition come closely together in Sušice at the Chapel of the Guardian Angel. The early Baroque chapel, built in 1682–1683, stands on Stráž Hill and offers beautiful views of Sušice and its surroundings. It was founded in 1682 by the Capuchin custodian Ladislav z Bílina, consecrated on 3 August 1683 by the Bishop of Prague Jan Dlouhoveský, and expanded in 1735 with attached ambits. The main pilgrimage currently takes place annually at the beginning of September as part of the so-called Sušická pouť; religious services are also held as part of it. From June to the end of August, services are also regularly held in the chapel on Thursday evenings.

Culture and History

The Sušický mechanický betlém depicts historic Šumava architecture as well as important sights in Sušice and its surroundings. On the ground floor of the Muzeum Šumavy Sušice, the exhibitions on match production and archaeology, as well as the “V hradbách” exhibition rooms, are accessible without barriers.

Landscape and Trails

The Svatobor lookout tower offers panoramic views over the Šumava and into the interior of the country. The Sušická pavučina, a network of hiking and educational trails more than 30 km long, runs through the surroundings of Sušice. It leads to the four peaks of Svatobor, Stráž, Kalovy and Žižkův vrch, as well as through the Otava valley near Na Pátečku. Most trails begin at the town hall on the square in Sušice and are marked with colored spiderweb symbols.

Recreation and Activities

Lesopark Luh is a popular recreational area for the residents of Sušice and visitors to the town. It can be reached on foot from the square in Sušice in just a few minutes. On the banks of the Otava is the Sušice rope park operated by OFFPARK, with 34 obstacles at a height of 6 meters, including 3 zip lines at the end.
