Žihobce: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Žihobce is a stop on the Lamberská Trail. The Lamberská Trail Museum is located there, in an early Baroque, rectangular, single-storey château with a raised ground floor. The historic château preserves original barrel vaults, some of which are complemented by stucco mirrors; on the ground floor of the west wing there are three halls with seasonal exhibitions. It was built in the Renaissance style in the 17th century and converted into a Baroque château in 1688. Adjacent to it is an English park with the Netopýřím parkem educational trail, an approximately 1 km circular route through the former château park with five information boards. The educational trail also includes an insect habitat made from tree trunks felled during the revitalisation of the château park. The Czech section of the Lamberská Trail in the Šumava foothills is an almost 50 km-long circular route that can be completed in stages or in individual sections.

Culture and history

The Neo-Romanesque Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was built between 1872 and 1876 on the site of a former Gothic church and is currently open to the public. In a historic Šumava building, the Netopýr Gallery displays works of art and handicrafts related to the Šumava region.

Nature

The attic of Žihobce château is home to a summer colony of lesser horseshoe bats (Rhinolophus hipposideros) and has been designated a site of European importance.

Trails and leisure

A marked yellow hiking trail starts in Žihobce and leads via Strašín to Javorník. A marked blue hiking trail also starts there and leads via Rozsedly and Kadešice to Sušice. The TJ Žihobce bathing area also includes tennis courts and a football pitch.
