Křenice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Křenice lies on the boundary between the Plzeňská pahorkatina upland and the Radyňská vrchovina highlands, also known as the Švihovská vrchovina. On a hill above Křenice stands the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, a local landmark. It was built in 1873.

Culture and history

Křenice Fortress was built in the Gothic style in the 13th century. In the 18th century, it was converted into a granary; remnants of Renaissance sgraffito are visible in places on its original exterior masonry. The fortress is privately owned and not open to the public.

The Křenice Homestead No. 15 includes a masonry granary connected to a gate dated 1938, as well as a large masonry barn and stables arranged at right angles. The homestead is a rectangular, single-storey residential building, partly constructed using timber framing, with a tripartite floor plan.

Landscape

The area around Křenice is drained via the Merklínka, also known as the Starý potok, into the Radbuza. In the immediate vicinity of Křenice are Běleč Mountain, Chlumec Hill [Křenice-Přetín], and Ptenínská hora Hill [Ptenín]. In the wider regional surroundings of Křenice lies Pohoří Mountain.

Cycle path

Cycle route 2099 runs through Křenice and leads from Drslavice near Klatovy via Chudenice and Křenice to Švihov.
