Bukovník: Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the Muzeum Špejchar, an exhibition tells the story of life in the Bukovnicko region around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum is housed in a free-standing grain barn dating from the mid-19th century, with a half-hipped roof. Nearby, a Baroque Calvary group commemorates the site of the former cemetery.

Culture and History

From May to September, the Muzeum Špejchar is open only by prior arrangement. Another prominent building in Bukovník is Kostel sv. Václava, an important Romanesque sacred building dating from around 1240. The church was remodelled in the Baroque style in the 17th century and is surrounded by a cemetery with an enclosing wall.

On the Na Krchůvku hill on the outskirts of Bukovník, three large cast-iron crosses mark a former cemetery that was closed at the end of the 19th century. Another unusual historical connection leads to the Kludský Circus: its founder came from Bukovník, more precisely from a cottage called “u Počtů”.

Landscape

The area around Bukovník includes Sedlo Mountain [Sušice-Albrechtice], Vysoký Mountain, Svatobor Mountain and Popelná hora Mountain. In the wider regional surroundings of Bukovník lies the ruin of the Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast.

Cycling Route

The Czech section of the Jan Filip Lamberg route is passable by bicycle along almost its entire length.
