Lipno is one of the gateways to the recreational area of the Hracholusky Reservoir. The reservoir stretches for 22 km along the Mže between Stříbro and Pilsen.
Nature and water
On the Hracholusky Reservoir, the excursion boat Josef Švamberk offers regular trips; the season runs from June to September, specifically from June to the end of September. The Hracholusky Tourist Information Centre is located at Kemp Keramika, Lipno 357, Líšťany. In the wider area around Lipno, fishing is permitted without interruption in the Hracholusky Reservoir in the Mže 4 fishing grounds (number 431 028).
Trails and art
The 31.6 km Hracholusky circular trail runs along the southern shore of the reservoir to Lipno; from Lipno, it leads to a unique group of statues of Roman soldiers at the reservoir. The modern art installation commemorates the history of Roman trade routes to Bohemia.
History and culture
Lipno is first mentioned in 1316; at that time, the village was called Bohosud z Lipna. The Baroque chateau in Lipno once also included a chapel dedicated to Saint Anne, which was consecrated in 1715.
The important archaeological site of Staré Lipno lies 1.75 km south of Lipno and shows settlement phases from the Late Bronze Age, the Early Middle Ages, and the transition from the Early to the High Middle Ages. The site of the Staré Lipno hillfort is protected by a high triple stone transverse rampart; double and triple fortifications have also been preserved on its western side.
In the vicinity of Lipno lies the late medieval Buben castle ruin at the confluence of the Úlický stream and the Mže.
