Blažim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Blažim has a local history dating back to 1183. At the same time, paths, waterways and traces of the past lead through a place whose history is closely connected with its names, its municipal coat of arms and its regional surroundings.

History

The first written mention of Blažim dates back to 1183. The village was originally called Plačín; it was not until 1923 that Blažim became the municipality’s official name.

The municipal coat of arms also preserves historical references. It contains a silver eight-pointed cross associated with the Order of St. John and also incorporates the heraldic emblem of a family named after Blažim or Blažín in the 15th century. Before 1850, Blažim belonged to the Bezdružice estate. Ecclesiastically, the place was always assigned to the Roman Catholic parish in Krsy.

Nature

Cycle route CT 2293 between Karlův Dvůr and Úterý runs through Blažim. A blue-marked hiking trail also passes through the village.

The Lichovský potok flows along the eastern side of Blažim, while the Dolský potok runs along its western side. Peckův mlýn is located on the Dolský potok; settlement at its site has been documented since the 16th century.

The Novy Dvur Monastery and the mountains of Sténský vrch, Třebouň and Prachometský kopec are located in the area around Blažim. Mount Homolka lies in the wider regional surroundings of Blažim.
