Švihov Castle was built by the royal judge Půta Švihovský at the end of the 15th century. It was designed as an artificial island and protected by two moats supplied with water from the Úhlava River.

The “In the Footsteps of Cinderella” trail begins in front of Švihov Castle and leads approximately 3 kilometres to Mezihoří. The Švihov educational trail is 26 kilometres long. “A Walk Through Švihov’s Sights” is an easy walk around the castle and to other sights in Švihov.

The tour of Švihov’s sights also leads to Jewish cemeteries dating from the period when Švihov was a centre of the Jewish community in the surrounding area. It also allows visitors to see the Church of Saint Wenceslas.
