Landscape and Views

Strážná lies on the border between the Orlické Mountains and the Zábřežská vrchovina highlands at an altitude of around 600 m. Lázek, with its observation tower, is a prominent landmark of Strážná. From the observation tower on Lázek, you can see east towards the Zábřežská vrchovina highlands and the Jeseníky Mountains, and west towards the town of Lanškroun.

The extensive forests around Strážná are ideal for mushroom picking. Two large lime trees grow in the centre of Strážná. The larger of the two lime trees in the centre has a circumference of 720 cm and is estimated to be around 300 years old.

Cycling and Hiking

The Strážná–Hoštejn–Cotkytle–Lázek–Strážná cycling circuit is 30.5 km long and has an elevation gain of 394 m. The Štíty–Strážná–Lanškroun–Valteřice–Štíty cycle route passes through Strážná. The village is part of cycling routes for more experienced cyclists. Many cyclists and hikers come to Strážná, especially because of the beautiful views.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Isidore is the central landmark of Strážná and was completely rebuilt in 1921. Strážná was mentioned as a parish village in 1350 and again in 1492. The first written mention of Strážná dates from 1350 and is connected with the founding of the Diocese of Litomyšl in 1344.

A chapel is one of Strážná’s significant buildings. The village’s sights also include a paratrooper memorial.
