Hrochův Týnec is located in the Elbe Lowland on the left bank of the Novohradka, at its confluence with the Ležák stream. The Novohradka flows through the area of Hrochův Týnec from east to west.

The hills of Turyň [Kočí], Na vrchách and Stropinský vrch [Úhřetická Lhota] are located in the immediate surroundings of Hrochův Týnec. The mountain of Bučina is also located in the wider regional surroundings.
Culture and Townscape
The present-day Church of St Martin, dating from 1723–1728, stands on a hill above the square. The church preserves the southern Zeller Chapel of the Virgin Mary from 1680; on its north-western side is the tomb of the Liliewald family, dating from 1830–1831.
South-west of the square lies Hrochův Týnec Chateau, which was extended by a Chapel of the Virgin Mary. Its chateau garden contains a single-storey brick garden house with a mansard roof. The burgher house in Hrochův Týnec has a triangular gable decorated with vases and festoons. The Church of St George is located in the wider regional surroundings of Hrochův Týnec.

The 62-km cycling route “Through the Landscape of the Ležák, Žejbro and Krounka” begins at Hrochův Týnec railway station.
