Střemošice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Střemošická stráň is one of the most important botanical and entomological sites in Bohemia. At the same time, it is the only site of the lady’s-slipper orchid in the Chrudim District. As a Natura 2000 site, it protects dry semi-natural grasslands, shrub habitats and extensively mown lowland and upland meadows on calcareous soil.

Culture and history

North of Bílý Kůň lies Žižkův stůl, a well-preserved medieval fortification with a round mound and a wet moat. About 200 metres beyond the last houses of Bílý Kůň, a path branches off to Žižkův stůl.

On the village square in Bílý Kůň there are a Chapel of St Wenceslas with a bell tower, a wayside shrine and a chapel. Every year, Střemošice maintains a folk tradition with a history of more than 120 years, which has been included in the List of Intangible Traditional and Folk Culture Heritage of the Pardubice Region. Among the traditional cultural events regularly held in Střemošice during the period 2021–2025 was the “Velikonoční věneček”.

Hiking and cycling

A blue-marked hiking route runs from the starting point in Bílý Kůň via Střemošice, Řepníky, Pustina, Zádolí, Brteč and Vanice to Vysoké Mýto. A red-marked hiking route through the Údolí Krounky a Novohradky Nature Park also passes through Bílý Kůň.

Local cycle routes pass through Střemošice along lightly trafficked class III roads and paved paths. Poklona offers an exceptional view of Novohradsko, Prosečsko, Skutečsko, Lužsko and the Železné hory Mountains.

Practical information

There is a public toilet near the football pitch, children’s playground and tennis courts in Střemošice. During the period 2021–2025, there was no tourist information centre (TIC) in Střemošice; the nearest TIC was in Luže.
