Dřenice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dřenice combines a multifaceted local history with distinctive memorial sites, small waterways and a vibrant community life. Between Na Hrázi, the Bylanka stream and the local chapels are numerous concrete details that make the place tangible.

History

Dřenice was first mentioned in writing in 1381. According to historical sources, the founding of Dřenice is attributed to Count Dřeň, who lived in the district now known as Na Hrázi.

Culture

The Dřenice memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars is a sandstone monument with a name plaque, a relief, a flaming heart and a cross. The unveiling of the Dřenice war memorial on 18 August 1946 is recorded on its reverse side.

In the Na Hrázi locality, the chapel there was built by residents of the municipality at the end of the 19th century; it is situated above the confluence of the Markovický and Bylanka streams. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is located south of the village at a crossroads near the Na Hrázi locality. The local amenities also include a wooden bell tower with an original bell that remains in working order.

At the Dřenice Posvícení 2025, a goulash festival, a dance event and other accompanying events took place on the first weekend of September.

Landscape

The Bylanka stream enters the municipality of Dřenice from the south, flows through a shallow valley and then runs north through the built-up area before leaving the municipality again. In the Na Hrázi locality, the Bylanka and Markovický streams merge at the former pond dam. The source of the Dřenička, a small stream, is also considered a notable local landscape feature of Dřenice.

Community Life

The SK Dřenice sports complex includes a grass football pitch, changing rooms with a clubhouse and snack bar, sanitary facilities, a summer dance floor and a renovated tennis court. Every year, the SK Dřenice sports ground hosts several football tournaments for men or veterans’ teams.

The Dřenice Angling Club holds fishing competitions in several categories several times a year at the municipal fire pond.
