Dědová: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At an altitude of 658 m on the gently sloping side of a valley lies Dědová, a typical foothills municipality offering panoramic views of the landscapes of Skutečsko, Novohradsko and Poličsko. The entire planning area of Dědová lies within the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area.

Nature and landscape

The Bahna Natural Monument protects transitional bogs, nutrient-poor calcareous moss swamps, tall-herb meadows, wet meadows with melancholy thistles and meadowsweet, purple moor-grass meadows, and matgrass swards with protected and endangered plant and animal species. The Bahna locality and the protected natural area “Bahna” are used for recreation.

The Devět Skal, Žákova hora and Jarošov mountains are located in the vicinity of Dědová. The Dědovský kopec [Dědová] hill lies in the immediate vicinity of Dědová. Bodies of water are also part of the local landscape: the Raná stream rises on the western edge of Dědová, while the Dědový potok stream is located in the eastern part of Dědová.

Paths and routes

The registered cycle route 4122 runs through the territory of Dědová along the Kameničky–Dědová–Vojtěchov section. For hiking, a red-marked trail leads through Dědová on to Krouna, Otradov and Česká Rybná. In the opposite direction, the red-marked trail leads to Kameničky, Chlumětín and Svratka. In addition, a marked hiking trail leads in the opposite direction via Filipov to Kameničky.

The “Za inspirací malířů Vysočiny” route connects Hlinsko, Rataje, Dědová, Kameničky, Lány and Hamry, then returning to Hlinsko.

History and village culture

The first written mention of Dědová dates from 1392. In the 19th century, Dědová was known for the manufacture of wooden toys.

A public space with log buildings of folk architecture is located by the Dědová municipal office. House No. 12 in Dědová is a significant example of folk architecture and documents the traditional settlement of the Vysočina region, with preserved elements of traditional vernacular construction.

The monument to the inhabitants of Dědová commemorating the victims of the First World War is registered under identification number CZE5302-6257 in the Central Register of War Graves.
