Bořice: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Bořice, the surviving traces date back to the archaeological excavations in the Podbor district: they provide evidence of settlement by the Lusatian culture, dating from the 12th to the 4th century BC.

Culture and History

A written record from 1122 mentions an agricultural estate on the site of today’s house no. 17 in Bořice. The first written mention of Bořice itself dates from 1382 and names Václav z Bořic a Mikulovic.

The municipal coat of arms of Bořice is derived from the seal of the Vladik Šimon z Bořic from 1504. Martin z Bořic is also mentioned: he was a signatory of the Land Peace of the four united countries from 1440.

The history of the village also includes Tvrz Bořice. After 1591, it lost its residential function; in 1652 it was converted into a forester’s lodge, in 1790 into an inn, and in 1927 it was demolished. Tvrz Bořice is designated as inaccessible and survives only through traces in the terrain.

Community Life

Traditional events in Bořice include a football tournament for veteran players. Also traditional is a nohejbal tournament for three-player teams competing for the mayor’s cup. Bořicko-Týnecký SK was founded in 1924 and is the direct predecessor of today’s TJ Sokol Bořice.

Festivals and Gatherings

Rybářské závody is a traditional summer event in Bořice, combining sporting enthusiasm with a friendly atmosphere. The Podzimní slavnosti in Bořice include apple cider pressing, pumpkin activities and Halloween celebrations in the autumn.

Babský bál is a social evening with music and dancing in Bořice. Čarodějnice is a popular spring gathering in Bořice with a bonfire and a children’s program. Divadélko is a public performance by local children in Bořice; each autumn, they rehearse a short fairy tale or song. Vánoční zpívání is a gathering at the illuminated Christmas tree in Bořice featuring Christmas carols and Christmas punch.

Sports and Public Facilities

The TJ Sokol Bořice football complex covers 6,500 m² and includes a 97-metre-long, 57-metre-wide natural-grass football pitch, 200 standing places and 50 seats. The facility is designed for regional competitions.

Geographical Location

There is a bus stop in the Podbor district on the Dašice–Hrochův Týnec route. West of Bořice, the Bořícký potok flows into the Novohradka.
