Široký Důl is home to the Gothic Church of St. John the Baptist, which dates back to 1347. It is listed as a cultural monument. The village is also home to a very well-preserved polygonal barn with a thatched roof. This architectural setting is complemented by an ensemble of brick-built four-sided farmsteads constructed in 1868 and 1894.
Routes
The marked Polička–Lubná–Budislav hiking trail passes through Široký Důl. A cycle route through the village has a rest area and a map of local sights. Cycle Route 4103 leads from Polička via Oldříš and Široký Důl to Lubná.

The mountains Jarošov, Drašarov and Librův Kopec are located in the vicinity of Široký Důl. The mountain Kočíko is also located in the wider regional surroundings.
Events and local life
The 0.8 km road race “Širokodolská časovka” was scheduled to take place in Široký Důl on 5 July 2026. Firefighting sports competitions were held annually in Široký Důl under the name “O pohár starosty obce”. At the end of October, Široký Důl hosts a large autumn firefighting sports tournament.
