Řídký is located in the geomorphological region of the Litomyšl Basin, a gently rolling hilly landscape, above the valley of the Loučná. The Loučná flows through a shallow valley approximately 700 metres southwest of Řídký, outside the municipality’s cadastral area.
Nature and Landscape
The area along the northwestern municipal boundary of Řídký near the Švábenice stream is forested. South of the railway there are permanently green areas and meadows. The local water network of Řídký includes the Končinský stream. The entire municipal area of Řídký lies within a CHOPAV groundwater protection area. The regional biocorridor RBK.846 “Aronka–Nedošínský háj” runs along the southern municipal boundary of Řídký.
History and Townscape
Řídký was founded in 1689 as a small settlement on a historic road. The first building erected in Řídký was a forester’s lodge; later, the well-known historic inn “Pod Číhadly” was established. The village has a continuous linear settlement structure. A cross beside the municipal office is designated as a local cultural and architectural asset.

The public area around the municipal office in Řídký includes a children’s playground and an open pavilion.
Transport and Cycling
Řídký has a bus stop and a railway stop. Road I/35 runs through Řídký and connects Hradec Králové, Litomyšl and Mohelnice. There are no separate cycle paths in Řídký; in addition, no designated cycle routes pass through the municipality of Řídký.
