Osík: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
One of Osík’s notable features is the vaulted stone bridge over the Desinka in the lower part of the village near Vesní Pond. It is a cultural monument.
Culture and History
The centre is home to the Secessionist school building, which opened in September 1912 and has served the education of school-age children for more than a century. Its façade bears the sentence “Mysli a až pak jednej.” – “Think, and only then act.”
The White Gallery is also dedicated primarily to the life’s work of the painter and graphic artist Ludmila Jandová (1938–2008); its depot also houses a collection of graphic prints by more than 300 artists. The White Gallery can be visited daily by prior telephone arrangement.
Another historic site is the Lazaret in Osík. It was established as a hospital commissioned by the Litomyšl estate during the plague epidemic of 1713. After the plague spared the area in 1713, healthy residents moved into the Lazaret’s original buildings and established additional homes there.
Sport and Exercise
The Osík sports complex includes a multi-purpose field with artificial turf, a synthetic running track with a long-jump facility and sandpit, two tennis courts, and a small-sided football pitch with artificial turf. The complex is also available to the public for sporting activities.
Under suitable climatic conditions, an ice rink can be set up on the multi-purpose field by arrangement with the facility manager.
Nature
An unusual natural phenomenon can be found at the so-called Zmrzlý kopec: even in the summer heat, ice remains in its rock crevices.
