České Lhotice: Holiday Apartments and Houses

České Lhotice is home to an archaeological monument reserve centered on its archaeological site. The Celtic oppidum, which was established in the 2nd to 1st century BC northwest of the present-day Hradiště district on a spur high above a meander of the Chrudimka River, is the only Celtic oppidum in Eastern Bohemia.

History and Culture

The site covered approximately 20 hectares and was heavily fortified with massive ramparts; on three sides, these were built in up to three layers. Access to the site of the České Lhotice oppidum is from the east. Fortifications with two ditches are visible there.

In the archaeological site of České Lhotice, evidence has been found not only of residential and agricultural buildings, but also of wells, hearths, and terraces. The Keltská stezka Železnými horami trail passes through sites of the original Celtic settlement in the area around Hradiště and Nasavrky.

Views and Recreation

The Rozhledna Boika observation tower is 14.5 metres high, and its viewing platform is located at a height of 11 metres. The observation tower is open year-round and free of charge.

Rozhledna Boika also features a covered, wheelchair-accessible seating area with a table and benches.

Landscape and Trails

The settlements of the municipality of České Lhotice lie amid fields, forests, and meadows in the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. Cycle Route No. 4114 passes through the area. The 3-metre-high Hradišťský vodopád waterfall is also located on a tributary of the Chrudimka River.

České Lhotice has an equestrian facility for children and adults that offers rides through the heart of the Celtic settlement. The district of Vedralka lies at an altitude of approximately 530 metres and is known for swimming in a natural pond fed by streams from the surrounding forests.
