Vikantice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vikantice is a small mountain municipality in the Rychleby Mountains, right next to the Jeseníky Mountains. The village lies at an altitude of 613 metres. Vikantice is distinguished above all by its picturesque, wild natural landscape.

Landscape

The Valíčkova lípa in Vikantice has a trunk circumference of 540 centimetres and is 22 metres tall. Vikantický kopec is located about 1 kilometre from Vikantice on the road to Habartice. From Vikantický kopec above Vikantice, you can see the Králický-Sněžník massif, the southernmost part of the Rychleby Mountains and a large part of the western Jeseníky Mountains.

Cycle Routes

The Staroměstská cycle route passes through Vikantice. The Jeseníky section of the Moravská stezka cycle route also runs through the village.

Culture and History

The branch church of St Wolfgang dates from 1641 and had already had a predecessor at least a century earlier. St Wolfgang Church, including its surrounding wall, has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958.

Vikantice is first mentioned in 1437 as a village belonging to the Kolštejn estate. Graphite was formerly mined in the vicinity of Vikantice. The hill located northeast of Vikantice is called Švédské zákopy and was associated with Swedish fortifications during the Thirty Years' War. The film Díra u Hanušovic by Miroslav Krobot was filmed in Vikantice.
