Postřelmov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The late Renaissance family tomb of the Bukůvky family, dating from 1592, is considered an exceptional monument of its kind in Moravia.
Culture and History
The Bukůvky tomb features a portal with remarkable relief decoration and a masterfully forged Renaissance grille. Its crypt contains the mummified remains of Zikmund Bukůvka, his wife Barbora Okrouhlická, Zikmund’s nephew Bernard, and an unknown girl.
The Church of Saint Matthew was originally a Gothic building from the 14th century and was rebuilt in the Baroque style after the devastating fire of 1665. The restored interior includes the main altar of Saint Matthew and a ceiling painting of the Last Supper.
The Procházkova Chapel, also called the Chapel of Saint Procopius, was built in 1696 on the road from Postřelmov to Chromeč and was originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The Chapel of Saint Procopius is considered one of the oldest early Baroque chapels in Moravia. During the reconstruction of the parish Church of Saint Matthew in 1853, services were held there.
Other structures include the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a brick building with a square floor plan and a semicircular apse, as well as the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Postřelmov, a Baroque sandstone sculpture from 1732.
Jursův statek is a listed agricultural estate dating from 1837. The educator and school textbook publisher Jan Jursa lived at Jursův statek; he lived from 1853 to 1938. During a rescue archaeological investigation carried out while the bypass was being built in 2003, an artifact was discovered that was later called “Postřelmovský Venoušek”.
Cultural Life
The Postřelmov Cultural House hosts concerts, film and theatre performances, exhibitions, and events for children. The Markovice folklore ensemble was founded in 1953, draws on folklore material from the northernmost part of Hanna, and helps preserve traditional folk culture.
Landscape and Bodies of Water
Within the municipality of Postřelmov, the Desná flows into the Morava. The Postřelmov Plain is a landscape of fertile fields and meadows surrounded by wooded hills. The Jeseníky Mountains form the backdrop to the Postřelmov Plain.
Geographical Location
Postřelmov lies on the route between Zábřeh and Šumperk and has good road and rail connections. The cycling tour “Na kole okolím Zábřeha I.” runs from Rovensko via Postřelmov; before Postřelmov, you can turn onto an asphalt farm track that leads around Postřelmov to the Chapel of Saint Procopius, before the route continues via Hradecká Street to cycle route 6231 and Postřelmov railway station.
