Brníčko: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In the centre of Brníčko lies the complex of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Adjacent to the complex is a cemetery with numerous significant sepulchral monuments.

Culture and History

The core of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is formed by an original Romanesque rotunda with a circular nave, a cylindrical lantern and a horseshoe-shaped apse on the eastern side.

The ruins of Brníčko Castle include a two-storey palace, a tower, parts of the curtain wall and park wall, as well as ditches and ramparts. The ruins of Brníčko Castle stand on a hill above the municipality of the same name and are freely accessible all year round. Hrad Brníčko Castle is located in the immediate vicinity of Brníčko.

The Středověké odpoledne event was held at Brníčko Castle on the first weekend in July. Středověké odpoledne 2024 was the 14th edition; the municipality subsequently announced preparations for the 15th edition.

Excursions and Landscape

The excursion from Lesnice to Brníčko Castle is 10 km long, is expected to take three hours and includes 289 metres of ascent and descent respectively. A historical discovery tour also passes through the locality by bicycle: the “Cyklo-výlet za poznáním historie” cycling excursion passes through Brníčko and is 19 km long.

The Skalka mountain lies in the surroundings of Brníčko, while the Markovice hill is in the immediate vicinity. In the wider regional area are the ruins of Nový Hrad and the Obora and Cukrová Bouda mountains.

Local Production

The Ovčí statek U Hrdličků sheep farm in Brníčko is part of the local character. The family business produces fresh cheese from unpasteurised milk, curd cheese and matured cheeses.
