Leština: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Leština lies on the left bank of the Morava River. Around half of the Pod Trlinou Nature Reserve lies within the cadastral area of Leština. The protected area preserves near-natural forest communities as well as a surviving section of the cultural landscape with meadows, pastures and field margins.

Nature

The Leštinské tůně pools have been designated a temporarily protected area since 2000. In 2003, three previously vanished pools were restored at the Leštinské tůně to provide breeding grounds for amphibians and newts.

Things to Do

The “Pochod kolem Leštiny” on 28 August 2026 starts at 4:00 p.m. at Čapí hnízdo and follows a 5 km route. The event is designed as an entertaining walk in nature with family-oriented activities.

The “Leštinská třicítka” offers hiking routes of 13 km, 20 km and 35 km, as well as a 40 km cycling route. In addition, the 2.3 km shared cycling and pedestrian path from Zábřeh to Leština, which is moderately challenging, connects Zábřeh with Leština; it is suitable for cyclists, inline skaters and pedestrians.

Birds

Visitors to the ornithological ringing station in Leština can observe ornithologists at work catching birds, with expert explanations. Every year during the European Birdwatching Festival, the station also holds an open day for children and adults.

History and Chapel

Leština has been documented in historical sources since 1392; the earlier settlement of Zálavčí appears in a record from 1371. Historically, Leština lay on an important transport route across the Morava River. Tolls were already collected on the bridge built there in the 16th century.

The Chapel of St. Wenceslas in Leština was built in 1754. Masses are held there regularly, along with occasional classical music concerts.

Festivals

The traditional Leštinské hody festivities in Leština include fairground rides and market stalls. The Sokolovna also hosts the traditional “Velikonoční Leština” event, which includes the “Vo Leštěnské mazanec” competition, an Easter market, a creative workshop for children and a singing performance.
