Ujezd: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Újezd, the history of the Church of Saint John the Baptist dates back to 1296: it is documented for that year under the patronage of the Lords of Šternberk. A new Church of Saint John the Baptist was built in 1585; its uncovered tower has survived to this day.

Culture and History

Further historical evidence in the village includes the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which was classified as a protected cultural monument in May 1958. The Marian column is dated to 1859. In the centre of Újezd, the Immaculata statue stands at the crossroads of the main road between Uničov and Šternberk and a local road leading to the church.

The floodplain of the Teplička stretches through Haukovice and Újezd.

Getting Around

Újezd lies on the frequently served Olomouc–Hanušovice railway line; trains run in both directions almost hourly. Cycle Route 511 passes through Újezd, running from Litovel via Červenka, Dětřichov, Želechovice, Brníčko, Paseka, Sovinec, Křížov and Stránské to Rýmařov. Sections 1, 2, 2A and 3 of the Šternberk–Uničov pedestrian and cycle path are located in the cadastral area of Újezd u Uničova. Stage III between Mladějovice and Újezd was built in 2023.

Festivals and Traditions

The cultural life of Újezd includes village festivals organised by local clubs and organisations. The traditional switching-on of the Christmas tree includes fireworks, punch, the singing of Christmas carols, small stalls and performances by primary and nursery school pupils. The Spolek František association traditionally organises a gathering of devils with Saint Nicholas and an angel in the parish garden.
