Blatec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Blatec has a medieval and modern-era historic centre, which is recorded within the built-up area as an archaeological site in category UAN II.

Culture and History

The original village was laid out around a rectangular village square; two exits led to the east and west. The historic layout can still be seen in aerial photographs today. The Chapel of St Margaret was first mentioned in 1804 and is probably older. It is a single-nave, plastered solid structure with a hipped roof covered with beavertail tiles. A prismatic tower with a pyramidal roof rises through its western façade.

Beyond the Morava, on the Morávka mill race, lies the Blatecký mlýn, which was built in 1773. Immediately behind Blatec, on the left side of the road towards Újezdec, stands the statue of St Linhart.

Landscape and Nature

Blatec lies between the Morava River to the east and the Blata River to the west; the Romza stream also flows through the village. Along the Morava, the Morava–Chropyňský luh Natura 2000 site is located within the Blatec landscape area.

Cycle Paths and Connections

Blatec lies on cycle route 6061 and route 4, the Moravská stezka; both routes run along cycle lanes or local farm tracks. More than 100 cyclists took part in one edition of “Královstvím na kole”. In another edition of this cycling event, the start in Blatec was at the football pitch.

Four bus services between Olomouc and Tovačov run through Blatec in both directions.

Wine and Local Tradition

The Blatecké vinobraní reached its third edition in 2025. At the Blatecké vinobraní 2025, more than ten selected wine varieties were served and presented with explanations of the individual wines and their stories. The second Blatecké vinobraní took place on 14 September 2024 in the community centre hall and offered twelve wines from the cellars of Čevelovice. Another traditional Blatecké vinobraní was announced for the following year.
