Lužice U Šternberka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Sitka stream flows past Lužice to the east. In its lower course, it is called the Huzovka, while at the same time forming the main axis of the local BK 38A biocorridor. South of the village lies the Háječek locality, which is suitable for hiking.

Landscape

The name Lužice also contains a reference to the landscape: it is derived from the common noun “luh”, meaning low-lying marshland along a riverbank. The Sitka is therefore just as much a part of the village’s distinctive landscape as the Háječek locality to the south, whose suitability for hiking has been recorded.

Bus services in Lužice are integrated into the Integrated Transport System of the Olomouc Region, Zone 101.

History

The first written reference to Lužice dates from 1131; at that time, the village belonged to the Olomouc Cathedral Chapter. Another historical trace leads to a farm estate in the village: the world-renowned wrestler Gustav Frištenský and his brother František owned it until 1938. Before that, the farm estate had belonged to Prince Lichnštejn.

Culture

The religious folk custom of “Klapání” is still observed in Lužice. During it, the boys from Lužice replace the ringing of the bells with clattering. “Gustavova Lužice” is also among the cultural and sporting events held annually in Lužice.

Lužice also hosted another edition of the summer film festival “Letní filmové léto”.
