Culture and History

The parish church of St John the Baptist is registered in Bohuňovice as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 28784/8-2626. It is a Baroque sacred building from the second quarter of the 18th century with an older core and was extended by 12 m. The church's three former bells, which had been requisitioned for war purposes, were replaced with new ones in 1922. The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes on Pod Lipami Street dates from 1883.

Customs and Traditions

The Matičky tradition takes place in Bohuňovice on Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. As part of the tradition, girls take a cross from the church and carry it in a procession accompanied by music to their village. The following day, the Matičky procession brings the decorated cross back to the church and concludes with an Easter Mass, refreshments and music.

Nature

The protected solitary tree Hromův dub is recorded in the cadastral area of Moravská Loděnice in the municipality of Bohuňovice. A height of 27 m and a trunk circumference of 600 cm are documented for Hromův dub (as of 15 June 2004).

The tennis facility in Bohuňovice has three tennis courts. Centrum zdraví Bohuňovice has a swimming pool with water attractions and a counter-current system. The Bohuňovice–Olomouc cycle path begins at the railway crossing in Bohuňovice.
