It consists of around 190 houses and smaller, predominantly religious buildings; 105 structures within the heritage reserve are designated as immovable cultural monuments. From May 1 to September 30, it is accessible exclusively as part of a guided city tour. To this day, the Piarist College retains its 18th-century layout with two courtyards and a monumental façade. Johann Gregor Mendel attended the Piarist school in Lipník nad Bečvou in 1833–1834.

Less obvious details are also part of the town’s historic character: The clock mechanism in Lipník nad Bečvou is a rare technical monument. When it was created, the rooftop garden complex was the first rooftop garden complex north of the Alps.
