Želechovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Želechovice is associated with the archaeological discovery of an ironworks dating from the 8th century. Archaeologists discovered 24 Great Moravian iron-smelting furnaces north of the present-day village of Želechovice. Archaeological finds also provide evidence of prehistoric settlement in the surrounding area.

History and Culture

The Vesnické muzeum Želechovice is an organisational unit of the municipality of Želechovice and was established in 2014. Most of its exhibits come directly from Želechovice. On 5 July 2014, the museum was officially opened to the public for the first time.

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Želechovice belongs to the Uničov parish. The present-day Neo-Gothic chapel was built between 1893 and 1895. Farmstead No. 8 is listed in the state register of cultural monuments.

Nature and Trails

A body of water created by flooding a former sand-extraction area near Želechovice serves as a biocorridor for waterfowl. Cycle Route No. 511 runs over one of the preserved pond dams.

The flat terrain around Želechovice is particularly suitable for cycling tourism. Dozens of lime trees provide shade on the village square in Želechovice.

Village Life

Regular events in Želechovice include the Hody pod lipami festival on 5 July. In winter, a Christmas concert in the local chapel is also held.
