Velký Týnec: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Velký Týnec combines a medieval past with buildings dating from the 18th to the 20th century. Velký Týnec Château stands on the site of an originally medieval fortress with an economic courtyard; Count Karel Martinic had a Baroque château built on the fortress grounds. The château garden is freely accessible.

Culture and history

The Hradisko Monument commemorates the freedom of the Czech nation and the victims of the world wars. The monumental structure is made of rubble stone and has a surrounding wall and a staircase. A memorial stone near the Hradisko Monument commemorates the ceremonial unveiling of the monument, attended by President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk in 1921.

The Týnecká folková zahrada, a recurring folk music festival, takes place in the château garden.

Nature and trails

Háj Malého Noe was established on Hradisko Hill near Velký Týnec. The grove was created with the support of Nadace Malý Noe, the municipality of Velký Týnec, the company Arboeko and individual tree sponsors.

The Stezka z Týnce do Týnce is a 12-kilometre hiking trail. Along the trail, there are ten stations with information boards about local sights and facts.

Sacred buildings

The Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie church was rebuilt into its present form between 1750 and 1760. It is a single-nave, longitudinal building with a semicircular chancel. The church’s Stations of the Cross was originally established along the route to Hradisko.

The Kostel sv. Matouše church in Vsisko was built in 1867. It contains a functioning harmonium manufactured by E. Krauss in Stuttgart in the second third of the 19th century. Two statues stand in front of the entrance, dating from the first half of the 18th century: Saint Barbara and Saint Matthew.

The Kaple Narození Panny Marie chapel in Čechovice was built in 1901. It is a single-nave, longitudinal building with a semicircular-ended chancel. Two statues stand in front of the chapel; the years 1913 and 1890 are inscribed on their pedestals.

The Husův sbor of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church was built in 1924 according to a design by Alois Košacký. Its entrance façade features a memorial plaque dedicated to the Czechoslovak legionnaires.

The gable of the Kaple Panny Marie chapel bears the coat of arms of Canon Giannini. The chapel also contains a stone tablet with an inscription and the year 1755. The Zámeček was built by the Olomouc Chapter in 1792.
