The river landscape of Věrovany is shaped by the Morava River and its oxbow lakes. The meandering Steklá watercourse and the Mlýnský náhon mill race also belong to this river landscape.

Nature and River Landscape

The Morava–Chropyňský luh Site of Community Importance covers the cadastral area of Věrovany and is part of the Natura 2000 network. It protects floodplain forests and extensively mown lowland meadows, as well as habitats of the European beaver and the crested newt.

Culture and History

Protected cultural monuments in the surrounding area include the Angel Statue in Nenakonice, the Chapel of St Anne with a bell tower in Rakodavy, and Nenakonice Chateau. The Angel Statue is a life-size Baroque sculpture associated with the pilgrimage church in Dub nad Moravou and freely accessible. The Chapel of St Anne with a bell tower in Rakodavy is a detached elongated building with a semicircular apse and a protected cultural monument.

Nenakonice Chateau is a protected cultural monument. It was built between 1717 and 1730 and served as a cholera hospital in 1866. The first mention of the watermill in Věrovany dates back to the 13th century.

Festivals and Activities

The Hodové festivities in honour of John the Baptist in Věrovany are included in the Register of Intangible Assets of Traditional Folk Culture of the Olomouc Region. The Věrovanka brass band regularly performs at the traditional Hodové festivities.

The TJ Sokol Věrovany sports complex includes a gymnasium and a fitness room. In addition, the Moravská stezka cycle route passes through Věrovany on the section between Dub nad Moravou and Tovačov.

Věrovany is connected by bus services in the Olomouc–Kojetín and Přerov–Prostějov directions.
