Želatovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Želatovice lies in a gently rolling landscape, in a depression beneath the slopes of the surrounding local hills. At the same time, the village is located at the transition between Haná and Záhoří – a geographical position that shapes its classification between these two landscape regions.

History

The first written mention of Želatovice dates from 1282 and is found in a document of Hradisko Monastery near Olomouc.

Culture and Monuments

The statue of St. John of Nepomuk, dating from 1738, is registered under No. 610 in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. The memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars stands in the village square in Želatovice. A stone cross by House No. 104 dates from 1849.

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands in the middle of the street green, west of the Municipal Office building at No. 32. It is a masonry building constructed in the Neo-Romanesque style. Since 1993, Mass has been celebrated in the chapel every year on 16 May, the feast of St. John of Nepomuk. The chapel in the village square of Želatovice dates from 1857; a stone cross by the chapel dates from 1898.

Memorial Sites

The memorial to František Běhal stands in Želatovice in front of House No. 31. The memorial identifies him as a lieutenant in the Czechoslovak fighter force abroad who fell on 11 May 1941 in the Battle of Southern England.

Cycling and Events

The “Želatovice–Přerov, Boundary of the Želatovice Cadastral Area” cycle path project was implemented in 2011.

FC Želatovice organizes the International Youth Tournament “Memoriál Ladislava Němce a Viléma Zbořila”; the 33rd edition took place from 5 to 7 June 2026 in the FC Želatovice sports complex.
