Culture and History

Rokytnice Château is a two-storey, three-winged High Baroque building with a park. Together with the Church of St. James, the adjacent park, the garden nursery, and the former farm buildings, the château complex forms an ensemble listed as a cultural monument. The château complex is accessible during the day and adjoins an extensive park.

As early as 1086, the historic Hradská road ran around or through what would later become Rokytnice; it connected the castle district centres of Olomouc and Přerov. The Josef Eichhoff Firefighting Museum was created through the complete reconstruction of a former fire station dating from 1905. It can be visited on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. by prior telephone arrangement.

Nature and Landscape

Rokytnice is located in the Hornomoravský úval and in the ethnographic region of Haná. At its closest point, the Morava River’s Bečva tributary flows approximately 600 metres from Rokytnice. Dolek is a small forest planted with deciduous and coniferous trees in the northern cadastral area of Rokytnice.

There are wooded areas along the Bečva and in the northern cadastral area of Rokytnice in the direction of Kokory; along the river, they consist predominantly of deciduous trees.

Cycling and Walking Routes

The Bečva Cycle Route runs through Rokytnice. In addition to cyclists, it is also intended for inline skaters, hikers, and cross-country skiers. Cycle Route 5042 Prostějov–Věrovany–Citov–Přerov also passes through the municipality. West of the built-up area, it runs along road III/43515 and subsequently uses local and dedicated paths.
