Prosenice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Prosenice is situated in the flat landscape of the Moravian Gate, approximately 5 km from Přerov. Watercourses, ponds, a historic village centre and traces of rural life give the place a distinct character.

Landscape

The Strhanec water channel flows through the centre of Prosenice. The Bečva flows through the cadastral area of Prosenice, which also contains several ponds. Thus, both the village area and the surrounding cadastral area form part of the geographical setting of the village.

Culture

The church in Prosenice, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, is a monument of local significance and was built between 1787 and 1788. Another historic landmark is the mill with Žudr, which dates from the 18th century.

The Prosenice Museum shows what life in the village was like around a hundred years ago. Its themes include local crafts, agricultural equipment, and exhibitions on the local sugar factory, brickyard and dairy. The museum also offers practical demonstrations of traditional crafts, workshops for children, discussion events and concerts.

History

A school building in Prosenice dates from 1859. The village is also home to a more than 200-year-old bell tower. The former cadastral municipalities of Velké Prosenice and Malé Prosenice were merged into one municipality in 1948.

Based on the settlement pattern of the oldest part of the village, Prosenice appears to have been one of the old Slavic villages of the linear round village type; part of this settlement form is still recognisable in the buildings today.

Getting Around

The Bečva Cycle Route passes through Prosenice. The Bečva Cycle Route runs through Prosenice and is described for cyclists, inline skaters, hikers and cross-country skiers. The described section of the Bečva Cycle Route is 65 km long in total.
