Olšovec: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A bell tower dating from 1717 stands in Olšovec’s village square and is designated as a state monument. The bell in the tower bears the inscriptions “Sanctus Maria” and “Sanctus Johanesa” as well as the year 1732.

Culture

The chapel in Olšovec, dedicated to Saint Mary, dates from the 18th century. At the intersection in the direction of Střítež stands a stone cross dating from 1851. It served as the final stop and place of farewell before deceased residents were taken to the cemetery in Střítež.

History

The monument to the victims of the First World War also serves as a memorial to T. G. Masaryk. The new bust of T. Masaryk at this monument was unveiled again on March 7, 1990. House No. 17 in Olšovec was formerly a bailiff’s house and dates approximately from the year 1700.

In Boňkov, the wooden bell tower houses a bell dedicated to Saint Barbara dating from 1703. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Boňkov has been reconstructed.

Community and Leisure

The “Rybníček” cultural and sports complex in Olšovec serves as a venue for dance events and discos in summer. Fire brigade competitions for young people and adults, as well as recreational volleyball and football competitions, are held there every year.

Nature

Lípová skála is a natural feature with old trees and rocks. Lom Olšovec is a flooded former quarry with clear water that is frequently visited for swimming.

The former Lom Olšovec quarry is approximately 12 metres deep. Swimming is at your own risk.

Olšovec is considered an important crossroads of cycling routes.
