In Dlouhá Loučka, Baroque castle history, sacred monuments and unusual museum collections meet a landscape that extends into the Sovinecko Nature Park and the Sovinec European Protected Area.

Culture and History

Dlouhá Loučka Castle was built as a Baroque château in 1708–1709. It served as the summer residence of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order and, during the Napoleonic Wars, as a hospital with 600 beds. Another historic building is essentially a Renaissance agricultural building of a fortress, with largely preserved stable interiors.

The Church of St. Bartholomew complex includes a 15th-century core with later alterations, as well as 19th-century sepulchral sculptures. A stone cross on the site was moved there from its former location at the bridge over the Oslava. On the slope below Křivá in Dlouhá Loučka, there is also a memorial to the victims of the Napoleonic Wars.

Another historical trace is a quartz millstone in front of a local shop in Dlouhá Loučka. It originally stood in the castle park; experts believe it was used to grind silver ore before smelting.

Museums

The Království historických kočárků is located at Plinkout 41, Dlouhá Loučka 783 86. The collection includes historic prams and doll’s prams dating from 1860 to 1989. On Saturdays, the museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00; on other days, visits are possible by prior telephone arrangement.

The museum in Dlouhá Loučka is housed in the building of the second Loučský Castle, which now accommodates the municipal office. It displays rescued wall paintings left on the walls of the local dilapidated castle by captured French officers during the Second World War. It also features paintings created by French officers in Dlouhá Loučka, including a unique painted plan of the entire castle.

Nature and Trails

The four cadastral areas of the municipality of Dlouhá Loučka – Dolní Dlouhá Loučka, Horní Dlouhá Loučka, Křivá and Plinkout – partly extend into the Sovinecko Nature Park. Parts of the Horní Dlouhá Loučka and Křivá cadastral areas also extend into the Sovinec European Protected Area. The habitats in the Dlouhá Loučka area include beech and beech-fir forests, riparian vegetation, rocks, standing waters and trout-zone watercourses.

Dlouhá Loučka Castle Park is a landscape park enclosed by a perimeter wall at the eastern end of the village. The 23rd Pochod přírodním parkem Sovinecko started and ended there on 9 May 2026.
