Ryžoviště: Holiday apartments and houses
The Ryžoviště–Břidličná educational trail begins behind the primary school in Ryžoviště. It leads to the 682-metre-high Výšina hill, from which you can enjoy far-reaching views of the surrounding area. It has six information boards and provides information about gold panning in Ryžoviště.
Culture
The Church of St John the Baptist is presumably of medieval origin and is documented by a record of a parish dating from the mid-16th century. It is a single-nave masonry church with a Renaissance core; the building was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1758. It is a prominent visual landmark in the surrounding area.
Ryžoviště is also home to a Baroque stone statue of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus, dating from 1733 and created by the sculptor J. G. A. Heinz. The design of its pedestal includes two putto figures.
History
The Lafayette House is a single-storey Empire-style building and a former courthouse dating from the late 18th century. The French General Lafayette was held at the Lafayette House in Ryžoviště in 1792. The building is privately owned and not open to the public. Visits to the local-history Lafayette exhibition in Ryžoviště can be arranged in person or by telephone through the municipal office.
