Lomnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lomnice is situated in the Nízký Jeseník below Slunečná Mountain. The Údolí Bystřice Nature Park is part of the surrounding landscape and, in the Rýmařovsko area, also extends across the cadastral territory of Lomnice.

Nature

The relevant part of the nature park in the Rýmařovsko area is described—apart from the surroundings of Dětřichov nad Bystřicí—as very flat, wooded terrain northwest of the railway line in the direction of Ryžoviště. The Lomnická lípa is registered as a solitary tree in the cadastral territory of Lomnice u Rýmařova. After 400 metres in the forest, at a fork on the right, there is a newly built rest area with seating for relaxation by a pond.

Experiences

In the “Park s cyklistickým hřištěm”, the course is intended for bicycles, including BMX bikes and mountain bikes, as well as balance bikes. Tylov is also home to the “Hravý les”, a functional modern recreational zone with educational elements, intended in particular for children’s environmental education.

Two cross-country skiing routes run through the surrounding area. Cross-country route A leads into a forested area on Kamenec and then along a ridge at the edge of the forest to Hospůdka Prima; the circuit is approximately 11 km long and has an elevation gain of 90 m. Cross-country route B begins at Penzion Lomnický šenk, leads across meadows around Kamec into the forest and then over a ridge to Nová Pláň; it is approximately 19 km long and has an elevation gain of 100 m.

Culture and History

Lomnice and Tylov are mentioned in a papal document from 1351; older records date back to around 1316. The Church of St George in Lomnice is a single-nave masonry building from the mid-14th century. The church has a documented first written mention of the parish from the same year, 1351; its surviving core was built in 1603. It was extensively rebuilt between 1603 and 1622, and services are held there regularly.

The “Život na vsi” Museum in Lomnice focuses on small agricultural machines and tools. The collection was later expanded to include tools and products of various craftsmen who lived and worked in the village. Lomnice also has historically significant old houses of the German lowland type that were moved to the mountains.

A memorial to the victims of the prisoner-of-war camp from 1940–1945 is located in the cemetery in Lomnice. Near the Church of St George above Lomnice lies a prisoner-of-war cemetery, considered one of the largest in Moravia, with a dignified memorial.
