Culture and History

The “Kostel Nejsvětější Trojice” church was rebuilt in 1753–1755 under the patronage of Václav Liechtenstein. It preserves figurative biblical scenes in violet hues as a surviving work by Kramolín. The church was restored in 2014–2015 at a cost of approximately 5.7 million Czech crowns.

The cemetery by the church contains four Classicist chapels of Boží Tělo. The Boží Tělo Chapel was built in 1872; the restored chapel is listed as a cultural monument.

The “Zřícenina hradu Zátor” castle ruins were first mentioned in 1342, probably originated in the first half of the 14th century, and were abandoned in the 16th century. Surviving remains include relief remnants of the core buildings, a surrounding rampart, and a moat.

The Evangelical Chapel was built in 1898 in the Evangelical cemetery in Zátor.

Landscape

Zátor is surrounded by forests and hills. The landscape around Zátor is considered picturesque and largely unaffected by industry; it offers recreational opportunities for nature lovers and hikers and invites visitors to take long walks.

Geographical Location

The Opava River flows through Loučky, the lower part of Zátor. The Zátoráček stream flows through the upper part of Zátor.

The heavily trafficked I/45 road from Krnov to Bruntál passes through Zátor. The Opava–Olomouc railway line runs along the edge of Zátor; the Zátor railway station is located there.

The borehole of Zátorská kyselka is connected to a freely accessible building.
