Roudno: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Roudno is located in the immediate vicinity of the Slezská Harta Reservoir. The Velký Roudný National Nature Monument has been protected since 1966 and safeguards a uniquely well-preserved stratovolcano from the Early Quaternary in the Bohemian Massif.
Nature
Velký Roudný comprises three lava flows; a quarry was formerly operated in the longest, northeastern flow for basalt extraction.
Trails
The Velký Roudný lookout tower was built in 2007. The 20-metre-high wooden structure, made of laminated larch beams, stands on concrete foundations and has a covered viewing platform at the top. From the lookout tower, there are views of the Hrubý Jeseník ridge, Nízký Jeseník, the Krnovsko and Opavsko regions, the Beskids and the Oderské vrchy.
The “Po vulkanitech” educational trail leads to the summit of Velký Roudný. The Křížová cesta Stations of the Cross also leads to the memorial to the victims of the First World War near the summit of Velký Roudný. Regional cycle route No. 6148 also runs through the cadastral area of the municipality of Roudno.
Culture
The Velký Roudný Chapel is protected as an immovable cultural monument under number 3941; heritage protection has been in place since 16 September 1996. A mass dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul is held in the chapel every year. The New Year’s ascent of Velký Roudný and the gathering at the chapel have been traditions of the municipality of Roudno since 1978.
The Church of St. Michael in Roudno is listed in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under registration number 102169. Its tower clock faces are made of 24-carat gold.
History
The memorial to the victims of the First World War in Roudno consists of three commemorative plaques mounted on tuff stones. They commemorate the municipality’s residents who fell, died or went missing between 1914 and 1918. The memorial is registered as an immovable cultural monument and was completely reconstructed in 2015.
