Dolni Moravice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The history of Dolní Moravice is mentioned as early as 1258. At the same time, the village is part of the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area.

Architectural Heritage and History

The filial church of Saint James the Greater dates from 1795. Its chancel dates from the Renaissance period, while the tower dates from 1593.

In the centre of Dolní Moravice stands a Baroque sandstone column depicting the Holy Trinity. It dates from 1752 and is considered in the region to be a particularly distinctive work of art in iconographic and typological terms. At the southern edge of the village, a Baroque sandstone statue of the Immaculata, attributed to no artist, stands on a tall column; it is dated to 1764.

A stone road bridge with two arches crosses the Moravice. Its distinctly rising roadway is characteristic of bridges of the so-called Swedish type. In the Nová Ves mining district, the mine workings are not accessible; only extensive spoil heaps of the extracted material can be viewed there, now heavily overgrown with forest.

Views and Nature

The Nová Ves lookout tower in Dolní Moravice is 31.3 metres high and was built in 2014. It offers three views of the Hrubý Jeseník ridge.

Near the village square and the road from Rýmařov to Karlova Studánka, a shelter with the spring of Moravická kyselka stands on the banks of the Moravice River.

Cycling

The Dolní Moravice–Nová Ves–Valšov circular cycle route and return is 36.3 kilometres long. It can be accessed directly from Dolní Moravice; during the summer season, cycle buses stop there.
