Nové Heřminovy is situated in a valley along the Opava River. České dráhy do not offer any services at Nové Heřminovy railway station.

Landscape and nature

The Ptačí hora area is located in the cadastral territory of Nové Heřminovy and covers 76.2730 ha. Its core is formed by the Ptačí hora National Nature Monument. It protects natural submontane beech and beech-fir forests containing a proportion of original Jeseník larches (Larix decidua).

Trails and viewpoints

The “Naučná stezka Nové Heřminovy” educational trail consists of two routes. The local route is 1.5 km long and includes seven stations covering the history and unique architecture of the municipality, including the former spas. The second route, which leads through the surroundings of the municipality, is 6 km long and includes five stations covering local natural attractions.

The “Vyhlídka u Žanety” viewpoint in Nové Heřmínovy offers views of Praděd and has seating.

Cycling connections

Cycling route No. 6161 runs from Lesní mlýn via Václavov u Bruntálu, Valšov, Mezina, Dlouhá Stráň and Milotice nad Opavou to Nové Heřminovy and continues to Čaková. It is 43.2 km long. Route 6162 is 26.3 km long.

Culture and local history

The stone cross beside the Chapel of the Holy Trinity dates from 1733.
